We are glad you found us.

Welcome to Anguished Hearts.

We are Bryan and Shayla, and we are humbled that you found your way to our ministry. The purpose of Anguished Hearts is to share a story of restoration with those who have experienced pain and sorrow along the journey of life.

After six years of marriage, we became nothing more than two strangers living under the same roof. It was during this time period that Bryan chose to step out of the marriage commitment and began an affair with another woman. Divorce was on the horizon and unless a miracle took place, there would be no more Bryan and Shayla.

God has put a desire within our hearts to help others who have experienced hurt in their own story. Our passion is to help anyone who has experienced deep pain in their life, not just married couples. We want to use our life experiences to provide light to someone who is living and suffocating in darkness.

Anguished Hearts was founded in 2015 after a season of spiritual confusion. God used that confusion to speak very clearly to the both of us that our story is not about us. It is about Him. It is about the great I am. It is a love story about the greatest gift anyone could ever receive…the gift of forgiveness and eternal life through Jesus. We feel that it is our responsibility to live a transparent life and share with others to provide hope for their own story.

Our continued prayer is that our story of supernatural healing will give others hope and lead them into a grace-filled, forgiving, intimate, and life-changing relationship with Jesus Christ. Maybe you came here because you are in deep pain. Maybe you are experiencing sorrow. Maybe your heart is in anguish and you have nothing left. If so, there is hope.

Hope has a name.

His name is Jesus.

We look forward to hearing your story.

In order for us to have the marriage that God intended for us, we had to surrender to Jesus individually before we could surrender our marriage to Jesus.
— Bryan & Shayla

There are no coincidences.

When we decided to begin a ministry, one of the first things that we asked ourselves was: What are we going to call it?

We needed the name to match our vision for the ministry. After a few weeks of frustration, we agreed that the name will come when we least expect it and that we will know when it’s the right name. Our answer was to pray about it.

It was not long after this that Bryan viewed a video on YouTube called “A Call to Anguish”. This video is an excerpt of a message preached by David Wilkerson. Bryan forwarded the link to Shayla, who responded, “Anguish. I think there is something to that word.” Shayla looked up the definition of anguish, and it described exactly how we felt when our marriage and lives had reached their lowest point.

Anguished Hearts was born.

We knew that God had placed the name for us at exactly the right time. The final affirmation came when we remembered Psalm 55:4.

My heart is in anguish within me; the terrors of death have fallen upon me.

The day after Shayla learned of the affair, Bryan read this verse for the first time on October 3, 2006 after brushing the dust off of a Bible that was a wedding gift nearly 7 years prior.

There are no coincidences in life. God has a plan for each and every one of us. While Anguished Hearts launched in 2015, God created this ministry in 2006 when we were in anguish. This ministry began when we were in deep pain and sorrow.

[ANGUISH]

Noun: severe mental or physical pain or suffering
Verb: be extremely distressed about something

During the most difficult times in our lives, our hearts have been in anguish (n). Now our hearts are in anguish (v) for others who are in the midst of their own anguish. Our hearts are in anguish for the lost. We are in anguish for those that have not experienced the one true living God: Jesus Christ.

Maybe you are in a season of anguish. Our prayer is that you find hope in Jesus. Maybe you are in anguish for those who do not know Jesus. Either way, you are here for a reason at the exact moment that you need to be.

We asked, they answered.

Anguished Hearts ministry is all about pointing people beyond their pain to the One who brings healing and hope. Bryan and Shayla are easy for people to relate to because they're willing to be real, and their compelling and powerful story of restoration needs to be heard by people who long for a transforming relationship with God and others.

Pain, brokenness, betrayal, and abandonment are key words that describe what exists within every soul. As you know, that list is just about endless. Words that may not be quite as common to some of us, however, are forgiveness, mercy, and grace.

Bryan and Shayla Moffitt are two of the best friends I have ever had. They have experienced a great deal of pain in their lives, and a desperate search for peace nearly destroyed their family.

Their success is a story of God’s amazing grace, and mercy that brings forgiveness. This story, now their testimony, stands as a memorial of what God will do in each of our lives if we will simply call on His name.

The purpose of this ministry is to lead broken people into a powerful relationship with Jesus.

If you are broken, or know someone who is, I firmly believe that God will use Bryan and Shayla Moffitt to help you see light at the end of the tunnel. There is hope for you — the very same hope that is evident in the lives of Bryan and Shayla. Armed with a testimony of what satan could not destroy, Bryan and Shayla are on a journey to share with the world what true grace is — a grace not only extended, but received by this precious couple.

It is hard to put into words how great of an impact that Bryan and Shayla and their testimony has had on my life. They are a light in this dark world. It is of no coincidence you are reading this.

No matter the age, gender, or marital status, you will be touched by Anguished Hearts. I am honored to share this walk with Bryan and Shayla. I pray many blessings to their entire family and Anguished Hearts.

“Amazing” can often be an overused word. But sometimes amazing is genuinely true. Bryan and Shayla are an amazing couple with an amazing story. The greatest amazing of Bryan and Shayla is that they serve an amazing God who pours out grace through Jesus.

Listen closely to their amazing story but more importantly, get to know intimately their amazing God.
